MCF Newsletter Vol 5 June 2010

MCF_Newsletter_Vol_5_June_2010_Page_1The children of Kamloops are important to everyone…

The work to develop a Children’s Charter of Rights is well underway and our goal of launching the community Charter on International Children’s Day (Nov 20) will be attained! Submissions from children expressing their rights in words or pictures have been collected from schools, and submissions from other groups are being collected over the first part of the summer. Thanks to our enthusiastic advisory committee and valued partners, the process has been a fast and exciting one. In the words of a 6 year old from Lloyd George Elementary, every child needs “love and carrots, grapes and water...and strawberries too.”

Hi everyone, 2010 is well underway and spring is here already! We have already accomplished a lot this year and have some great new projects in the works. Read on for more information on how we launched our year and for some of the exciting things yet to come.

We try hard to find new ways for parents and caregivers to get the information they need and to stay informed about all the things going on in our community. To do this better, we’ve relaunched our website with a whole new look. If you haven’t already, check it out at www.makechildrenfirst.ca for up to date information. If you notice anything missing or out of date, please contact Sue Lissel to make changes. We’re also on Twitter! Follow us at www.twitter/mcfkamloops. This is the place where we post links to other websites, current events going on in Kamloops and other good information we think might be useful...

MCF Newsletter Vol 1 Apr 09

MCF-Newsletter-Vol-1-Apr-09-1 Hi everyone! For those of you I haven’t yet met, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and give you an update on Make Children First. I will be completing quarterly newsletters like this to keep you all up to date.

My husband and I moved to Kamloops from Alberta two years ago and I have been looking for work like this ever since. I have a broad educational base in health and physical education and a social/health research background. My community development experience comes largely from my volunteer commitments working to increase the opportunities for girls and women to be physically active throughout the province of Alberta.
